Greg Ward is the kind of guy I wish I knew when I started waving a fly rod back and forth. Over the course of many years traipsing Smoky Mountain trout streams, he has distilled successful trout fishing into a few succinct rules. He carries only one fly box and wades wet figuring waders will leak sooner or later. He has a special fondness for a size ten Parachute Adams believing the biggest fish want a big meal. He makes short, accurate casts. And he regards observation as an angler's best friend: sneak up on the water and let the fish tell you what they want. I learned these lessons the hard way. Learning directly from Greg can save you years on the water and bring more fish to your net now.
In addition to owning Rocky Top Outfitters in Pigeon Forge, TN, Greg teaches fly fishing courses within the national park at introductory and advanced levels. He also co-authored The Ultimate Fly Fishing Guide to the Great Smoky Mountains with Don Kirk. You may recognize Don's name since his books on fishing the Smoky Mountains have sold over 100,000 copies (I have two, oh boy).
We are fortunate indeed to have such an experienced mountain trout fisherman as Greg for our seminar and banquet speaker this year. Come to the Bur-Mil Club on February 25 and meet someone who shares our passion for mountain trout. You can glean a lot of practical fishing knowledge in a short time and have a great time doing it.
